GRAND LODGE A. F. AND A. M. OF CANADA
IN THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO
DONALD H MUMBY GRAND
MASTER
In recent years there has been an increasing tendency for
members seeking office, and/or their supporters, to go beyond what is regarded
as acceptable behaviour in the acquisition of support.
Election to office should be based solely upon merit and
ability. It is not a popularity contest and any undue or improper solicitation
will not be tolerated. Without limiting the generality of this statement, the
following activities are deemed to be unacceptable if carried out by the
candidate or any of his supporters:
The wearing of or handing out of buttons, emblems or any other articles meant
to identify or encourage support for anyone candidate.
Having candidates or their supporters in close proximity to the entrance to
the Registration Area, the Registration Area itself or the voting rooms,
encouraging registrants to vote for any particular candidate(s).
The preparation and dissemination of lists of candidates who are deemed
"acceptable" by any person, District or region.
The mailing or personal dissemination of written material favouring one
candidate over another.
The guidelines apply equally to candidates and their
supporters.
Rt. Wor. Bro. Ken Schweitzer and members of his Committee on
Credentials have my full authority to enforce these guidelines. If such
activities are brought to my attention during the forthcoming Annual
Communication, I shall not hesitate to disqualify the offendinq
candidate.
